– Demonstration Night. We will have four “demo” stations:
Fabric Baskets, Quilt-As-You-Go, “What Do Judges Look For”, and
“Ask Anything” for all your quilt-related questions or problems.
This is an educational night—one you will not want to miss. February 23rd – Anelie Belden and her “Gadget Gal” lecture. March 23rd – Installation of new officers and committee members. Denise Crum will speak about her group, Ovarian Cancer Survivor Group, and the May 22 fabric sale. Also, Gold Bug Scholarship applicants will present themselves. The finished quilt for our quilt raffle will be presented. April 27th – Machine Quilter's Question and Answer Forum. Five machine quilters, Carla Barrett, Mary Brand, Liz Harris, Kari MacDonald, and Karen Oliver - will tell us about their businesses, the different machines they use, and answer questions. May 25th – Stitches of Hope lecture by Judy Sisneros, of Rocklin, CA. Judy will give a PowerPoint enhanced lecture about her 3-week trip to Cambodia with her friend, Susie Ernst, where they taught hand-quilting to young girls who have been rescued from the sex slave trade. Judy has many stories and photos to share. Also, included in the lecture will be Judy’s visit to a silk farm and the famous ruins of Angkor Wat. Judy will also bring with her some of her newest and best quilts! June 22nd – Volunteer Sign-up Night. Quilt Show 2010 “A Garden of Friendship”. Members will be encouraged to sign-up for the many jobs that need to be filled for our September 10-11 Quilt Show. Advance tickets for the show will be sold for $5.00, so you may wish to purchase tickets for friends and relatives. Vendor packets for the Country Store will be available. Quilt entry forms are also due at this meeting. July 27 – Quilt Show Workshop – Glue guns, sewing machines, rotary cutters, cutting mats, and willing members are needed to make items for the quilt show. Table cloths will be cut with pinking shears, yo-yo’s and buttons will be glued to clothes pins, and fabric cut and sewn to make quilt hangers. Many hands are needed! August 24 – Quilt Show Appreciation Night – As a thank you to all who have worked and will work at the quilt show, our guild will host an ice cream and cake social. Also, we will play the game “Quilto” for prizes. September 28 – Kari MacDonald will speak on how to “Take a Pattern and Make It Your Own”. October 26 – The meeting will be a hands-on program making Snuggle Quilts. |
